Country Manor

The renovation and restoration of an enchanting 1930's country estate.

The brief was to fully renovate this country estate inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement with a view to bringing it into the 21st century by addressing the internal layout. creating open plan social spaces, and integrating modern technologies.

Working with a period property presents a number of challenges, for instance, determining what elements are to be protected and assessing the impact any additions would have on the character of the house.

Returning the layout to its original intention was the first decision, restoring the kitchen to the heart of the house and opening it up to the dining room. By introducing order and symmetry helps to direct the eye towards focal points, such as the fireplaces that adorn the principal rooms.

Currently, in the early stages of development, this is a project with great expectations!

From the Designer, ‘In every room, there are features that demonstrate exemplary craftsmanship and design, causing the brief to quickly evolve from renovation to restoration. It is difficult not to be enchanted by this house with a rich history in the local area demanding a meticulous approach.’
