Contemporary single-storey extension to a Gate House creating a large open-plan space, impressive glass-to-glass corner window and home cinema concealed behind a hidden door.
We were asked to design a single-storey wrap-around extension that met our Client’s passion for contemporary and minimalist design, resulting in an impressive open-plan living space that flowed around the breakfast island and into the kitchen with a glass-to-glass corner window giving the roof the appearance of floating above you. Creating such a large open-plan room (10 meters in width) without any supporting columns was a challenge but we came to a solution by working with one of our trusted Structural Engineers and the results are stunning.
Another feature we had a lot of fun designing was the secret cinema. Hidden behind a door concealed within the living room panelling, guests exit the bright and open lounge to find themselves in a snug and dark cinema making the arrival a sense of occasion itself.
